Ohio Edison Spring Routine Helicopter Patrols

Please be advised that next week (approx. 2/13 or 2/14) weather permitting, Chesapeake Bay Helicopters will be mobilizing to begin performing spring routine patrols on all Ohio Edison 345kV and 138kV lines.  These inspections are expected to take approx. four to five weeks to complete, however, any storm or outage-related patrols could prolong completion.  The helicopter to be used is a Blue Bell 206 Jet Ranger with red tail registration number N719CB.  A routine visual patrol is a general inspection of the structures, conductors, and all associated hardware on the transmission line(s) where the onboard inspector is looking for any outstanding issues or immediate threats to the reliability of the transmission line(s).  The helicopter may also be seen hovering and/or circling to get a closer look at any problems that may be found during these patrols.  The flight crew will provide information on their daily location to local airports when in their airspace.
