January 9th Trustee Meeting Events

We are pleased to share several special events that took place at our Board of Trustees meeting that was held January 9th.

david-1Police Chief David Hayes presented the 2016 “Police Department Employee of the Year” award to Detective David Piekarski. He has dedicated his service to the community for over 19 years. Detective Piekarski’s body of work is exceptional and he serves the public with excellence on a daily basis and always represents the Department in a positive, professional manner. Despite a serious illness in 2015, Detective Piekarski made the decision to return to work when most would have retired. Congratulations to Detective Piekarski on his much deserved recognition!

ellis-2A proclamation in honor of Officer Timothy Ellis on his distinguished service was also presented by Police Chief David Hayes. On November 17, 2016, Officer Ellis responded to a call of a juvenile threatening to jump off the Sagamore Hills-Brecksville bridge. Upon his arrival on the scene, while other officers were speaking with the distraught young lady, Officer Ellis snuck up behind her, put her in a “bear hug” and pulled her away from the edge putting himself in peril of possibly falling from the bridge. The actions of Officer Ellis that day established that his act in the line of duty resulted in the saving of a life, and his actions obviously bring acclaim to the Police Department and the Township of Sagamore Hills. Job well done Officer Ellis!

swear-inChief Hayes then swore in newly hired Part-time Police Officer Annette Soucie. She has completed the application process in which over 30 candidates were screened. Officer Soucie comes highly recommended and Chief Hayes believes she will make a fine addition to the Police Department. She will be required to complete a field training process and probationary period. Congratulations and welcome to Officer Soucie!
